Egyptians Abroad will Vote Electronically

Minister of CIT Dr. Magued Othman revealed that there is a strong direction to apply e-voting in the coming parliamentary elections with the aim of enabling Egyptians abroad to vote and share in the political life through the use of ID or
passport only. This declaration came during the “Reviving Egypt through ICT” event which took place on April 12

Othman added that Egyptians abroad will be allowed to vote although most constituencies need some preparations to be able to cope with e-voting.  He also revealed that he is part of the economic group in the ministerial council and that the group is preparing a paper on the economic policy for the coming period, stating that the current government is planning for the future and is working on attraction investments to help the country emerge from the current crisis, and not just to maintain the flow of work.

The Minister also stressed on the fact that the ICT sector is facing challenges and is a main partner in the economic development process. He further said that ICT is playing a pivotal role in many important issues in Egypt.
